Czech German Shepherds are known for their intelligence, strength, and loyalty. They are amazing, working with tremendous drive while boasting sweet dispositions and personalities. They are commonly used in the military and for police work because of their intelligence, agility, strong work ethic, and tracking ability. The Czech German Shepherd is a line of the German Shepherd breed that goes back to the first officially registered German Shepherd, Horand von Grafrath. After WWII, Czechoslovakia shared a common border with East Germany. Many dogs were bred separately on both sides of the border. The dogs that were bred on the Czech side of the border were originally from the former East Germany side, but were bred with dogs from the exclusive breeding program of the Czechoslovakian Army’s border patrol. This explains why they were bred for intelligence, strength, and loyalty. The armies depended on these dogs in many ways, and the best dogs were used in the Czech breeding program.
